Roshan has helped create or manage several Ashoka programs since 2003, both in India and globally. The most recent are the Ashoka Peace (launching entrepreneurs in conflict zones) and Ashoka Globalizer (helping social entrepreneurs accelerate their impact globally) initiatives. He has degrees from Davidson College and Harvard Kennedy School, and his writing on social innovation has been published in a range of academic journals, magazines and websites, as well as in the recent anthology “Dream of a Nation”. Roshan is also founder of The Amani Institute, which is building a new model in higher education for those interested in social change careers.


Dr. B.V.Phani is an renowned Professor, Finance & Entrepreneurship and the Coordinator, SIDBI Innovation Incubation Center, IIT Kanpur. With a PhD from IIM-C his research interests include Financial Intermediaries, Credit Risk Modeling, Securitization, Entrepreneurial Finance, Market Microstructure and valuation,and Corporate Governance. He has received several awards like National Stock Exchange Research Initiative award for Research, Copenhagen Business School’s Aage & Yelva Nimb Foundation award for doctoral research, PD Agarwal-TCI award of doctoral research, London Business School’s A.V. Birla award for doctoral research, and Government of India’s National Merit Scholarship. He has had several publications and is a visiting faculty at the National Entrepreneurship Network, Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, Indian Institute of Management Kozikhode, , SP Jain Institute of Management Research and Asia Global School of Business, Hyderabad.


Mumbai Angels

Started in November 2006, the Mumbai Angels is a unique forum where its members may interact and exchange ideas and knowledge. The Mumbai Angels provides a unique platform to start ups and very early stage companies by bringing them face to face with successful entrepreneurs, professionals and executives who are interested in and have the funds available to invest in start ups companies. Mumbai Angels is recognized as an innovative business incubator and holding company. We provide our portfolio companies with a level of assistance that surpasses their highest expectations. Our network of relationships and our ability to leverage those relationships on behalf of our portfolio companies is unparalleled. The Hatch provides high-potential startups a single-point access to key ingredients required for success – mentoring, operational guidance, knowledge & resources, infrastructure support and access to capital. Our intention is to work with aspiring entrepreneurs at the starting of their entrepreneurial journey. i.e. we work at a ‘two people and a powerpoint’ stage and we help entrepreneurs convert their concepts into businesses. Our programs are designed to provide deep-engaged, long-term mentoring to help startups prove their concepts and business models. The mentor panel of The Hatch consists of successful entrepreneurs, angel investors and mentors to over 500 ventures in India, the US and Europe. Under our incubation program, we will help in incubating over 1000 entrepreneurs over the next 5 years. We have created a mentor panel comprising of over 50 accomplished and experienced entrepreneurs, investors and senior professionals.


The nonprofit National Entrepreneurship Network was established in 2003 with a mission to create and support high-growth entrepreneurs, driving job-creation and economic growth in India.

NEN represents India’s largest and most dynamic community of new and future high-growth entrepreneurs, with over 70,000 members in 30 cities. It provides critical support to start-ups and early-stage entrepreneurs through high-impact entrepreneurship education; access to mentors and experts; fast-track access to incubation and funding; and learning tools and materials. It partners with over 470 top-tier academic institutes in India to help them develop vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystems on campus, which develop and support new and future entrepreneurs. In addition, it runs Entrepreneurship Week India, the country’s largest entrepreneurship-awareness campaign. In 2009, E Week India featured over 3500 events with more than 350,000 participants.


NSEF( National Social Entrepreneurship Forum) - NSEF's aim is to empower the students through exposing to the field of social entrepreneurship through various activities. National Social Entrepreneurship Forum is a non-profit organization influencing the youth culture in India both in practice and academia by inspiring, training and supporting students for social innovation & entrepreneurship and in the process, emerged as India's premier youth platform for social innovations with pan-India chapters facilitating the growth of leaders of change.



IIT Kanpur has set up the SIDBI Innovation & Incubation Centre (SIIC) in collaboration with Small Industries development Bank of India (SIDBI) to foster innovation, research, and entrepreneurial activities in technology-based areas. SIIC provides a platform to Start-ups prospective entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs to convert their innovative ideas into commercially viable products. AngelPrime addresses the much needed gap in the Indian startup ecosystem. While numerous Venture and PE funds pour capital into later stage ventures with proven business models and revenues, the very early stage startups and entrepreneurs with ideas are starved of investment and critical mentorship.
